It ain’t easy to stand up for your rights these days. In the United States we have a long history of the government actively working to neutralize free speech — including COINTELPRO and Brandon Darby, off the top of my head. That’s why it’s always such a kick to see someone doing the courageous and highly dangerous work of confronting the military-industrial etc. head on.
A group in Brighton (UK) called Smash EDO have been publicly protesting EDO MBM, a US-owned arms manufacturer that builds bomb racks, release clips and arming mechanisms for warplanes — grim tools for the War Of Terror.
According to the Smash EDO campaign, a group of protesters have forced entry into the EDO MBM factory early in the morning of Saturday 17th January, destroying equipment that manufactures weapons used by Israel in to kill civilians in Gaza.
Give ‘em hell, guys!

Douglas Brinkley, a Tulane University presidential historian and Carter biographer, described Carter’s comments as unprecedented.
“This is the most forceful denunciation President Carter has ever made about an American president,” Brinkley said. “When you call somebody the worst president, that’s volatile. Those are fighting words.”
Carter also lashed out Saturday at British prime minister Tony Blair. Asked how he would judge Blair’s support of Bush, the former president said: “Abominable. Loyal. Blind. Apparently subservient.”
“And I think the almost undeviating support by Great Britain for the ill-advised policies of President Bush in Iraq have been a major tragedy for the world,” Carter told British Broadcasting Corp. radio.
We are against the Equal Rights Amendment! Because if those… liberals get their way, women will be using unisex bathrooms and fighting in the trenches, where men belong.

“Whether she was better roasted, boiled or carbonado’d [barbecued], I know not,” the colony’s Capt. John Smith wrote in his version of events about the same time. “Such a dish as powdered wife, I never heard of.”

Love-taker, don’t you mess around with me
My (much less web-saavy than yours truly) co-workers insist on having MSN for their home page on the PC we all share here. Usually, there is little-or-nothing of interest, but this morning I took note of:
As you can see, the dating advice on men is written from a male point of view, and the advice on women is written from a woman’s point of view! Brilliant!
I am looking forward to all the rejections I suffer from this point on being much more humane.
Unfortunately, ladies, I can make no promises on my end.
BAGHDAD, Iraq – The Shiite prime minister promised Sunday to reshuffle his Cabinet after calling lawmakers disloyal and blaming Sunni Muslims for raging sectarian violence that claimed at least 159 more lives, including 35 men blown apart while waiting to join Iraq’s police force.
BAGHDAD, Iraq – A stunning new death count emerged Thursday, as Iraq’s health minister estimated 150,000 civilians have been killed in the war — about three times previously accepted estimates.

He is currently listening to the song "Words" by Doves. If you must contact him, he prefers that you do it on myspace.

This country will give you a war if you want it, and it will give you all the consumer benefits of a system that creates war, if you want it, while keeping the war itself safely stashed away. And if you’re not satisfied, you can always get a lap dance.
